From a Manufacturer Who Builds These Lines Every Day
I’ve been in the tube forming equipment business for over a decade. One of the most common requests I get from customers—especially those planning to set up their own production—is this:
“What machines do I need to start making conical street light poles?”
If you’re asking the same thing, let me give you a straight answer—based on real factory experience, not theory.
Machines You Really Need
Let’s keep it practical. Here’s what a typical conical pole production line includes:
- Pipe Cutting Machine
You start with raw steel or aluminum pipes—often 6 to 12 meters long. You’ll need to cut them to your desired length. A precise, clean cut is essential for everything that follows.
- Cone Tapering Machine
This is the heart of the whole line. It’s what turns a straight pipe into a tapering cone. Depending on your material and wall thickness, we can design the machine with hydraulic or servo control.
We’ve helped factories shape poles up to 12 meters long and 5mm thick—no problem.
- Welding Equipment
Some poles are made in sections and then welded. Depending on your market and standards, we can match you with MIG, TIG, or submerged arc welding systems.
- Straightening Machine
Even after tapering and welding, the pole needs to be straight. We add this step to ensure your product is within tolerance.
- Surface Treatment Equipment
This includes polishing, sandblasting, or hot-dip galvanizing. Corrosion resistance is key—especially for outdoor use.
- Powder Coating or Painting Line
If your market prefers colored poles or requires specific coatings, you’ll need this step. Some clients even go for robotic spray systems.
- Base Plate Forming & Drilling
Most poles need to be anchored. You’ll need to weld a flange at the base, and drill the correct bolt holes.
What the Production Flow Looks Like
Here’s how it runs in our customer factories:
- Surface treated (galvanizing or polishing)
- Base plate added and holes drilled
- Final inspection & packing
Simple. Smooth. Reliable.
How Many Poles Can You Make Per Day?
That depends on how automated you want your line to be. For reference:
- A semi-automatic line with 3–4 workers can output 30 to 50 poles per day.
- A fully automated line can double that, reduce labor, and improve consistency.
We’ve helped clients in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and South America scale up their pole production like this.
Final Words from a Builder
There’s a big difference between buying machines and building a real, profitable production line. We’ve been helping customers make that leap for years.
If you’re planning to set up a line for conical light poles—tell us your target size, material, and output. We’ll help you design the right combination of machines, workflow, and layout.
